eShop and eWeb - Verifying your website with Google

Verification of your website ensures that Google is aware of your site. In layman's terms, verification lets Google know you're alive. The process is simple, follow the steps below to verify your site:

1. Sign up to Google Webmaster tools. This service is free and can be found here: http://www.google.com/webmasters/

2. Click the Add a site... button.

3. Type the URL of your website, without the www

4. Select the drop down option for Verification Method and select Upload an HTML file to your server. Right click and save the verification HTML file. Do not change the file name of this file.

Please DO NOT select the meta tag option as this is unstable and often does not result in successful verification.

5. Attach the HTML verification file to an email and send it to support@magicdust.com.au. A member of our support team will upload this file to your website for you. You will receive a reply shortly after stating that this has been done. When you receive this reply, return to Google Webmaster Tools and hit the Verify button.

6. You should now see a verification completed message. Your site is now verified with Google and will be indexed shortly.

Go to the Google Local Business Centre http://www.google.com/local/add and register for a listing. NB Fill out the required info as completely as possible and do not stuff keywords into your title. It helps if you have multiple directory type listings elsewhere that all reflect the same info as far as possible so get your Truelocal and Yellowpages entries up to speed too. eShop Quick Start Guide The following guide gives you the ability to set up the basics of your eShop. This simple 7-step process was developed to assist you with the basic information necessary to conduct transactions. We recommend you complete these steps first before you begin adding products to you eShop. Additionally, we encourage you to spend sometime with the user manual to understand the system completely. Required fields are in bold. Step Two Go to: Cart Settings > Global Cart Settings > Global Site Settings Enter in your customer service and administrator e-mail, site name and URL information. Step Three Go to: Cart Settings > Payment Methods Select the payment methods you will be accepting. Be sure to click the edit button to make text adjustments and enter in text for the thank you page. Step Four Go to: Cart Settings > Shipping Management Select the shipping method you will allow your customers to use. You need to create your own custom methods. Step Five Go to: Cart Settings > Edit Taxes Set up your global tax rate for the eShop. Step Six Go to: Cart Settings > Appearance Settings > Edit Site Home Page Enter the information you would like to appear in the middle section of the home page. Step Seven Bulk Loading your Products After you complete these steps,it will still be necessary to enter your products into the eShop system. Once you have successfully completed a test, you can start uploading all of your data using it. Bulk loading images is a snap. Make sure the image names match the product ID and upload them using the Bulk Image Loader or FTP. eShop - Setting up wholesaler levels

If you are selling wholesale, you can set up discounts for up to 3 levels of wholesaler. Those users which you set as wholesalers will be able to see the discount prices once they have logged into the cart.

Click on "cart settings" and then "global cart settings."

Click on "Wholesale settings" from the quick links bar on the left.

Select at which stage the wholesaler discount will be applied. You can choose between discounting each product, or globally discounting across the entire product range.

Specify the number of wholesaler levels you have and the percentage discount for each level. You can have up to 3 levels.

Specify your case pack and inter pack settings.

Click "save change."

eShop - Setting a user as a wholesaler

Once a user has registered with your shopping cart, you can then set them as a wholesaler through the cart's admin panel.

Click on "Users and Orders" and then "Browse Users."

Search for the user you wish to make a wholesaler.

Click on the user name to open their details.
Under "user access" change the dropdown menu to reflect the user's wholesale level.

Click "save changes."

eShop - Casepack and Interpack settings

If you have wholesalers enabled on your cart you may have come across the casepack/interpack settings under the wholesale settings. For specific information about setting up wholesalers and their associated settings, click here.

This tutorial will run through the definition of each, using examples.

Wholesale Case Pack

If you allow wholesale Case Pack, then, on the Edit/Add Product page, one of the settings will be the number of items per case. Lets say the product is lipstick, and you sell one tube of lipstick for $1. If you set the items per case value to 5, then the product can only be purchased in a pack of 5, for a total of $5. What the customer will see is that your this product costs $5, and that there are 5 lipsticks in the package. They will *not *see that the lipsticks cost $1 each (though they can, obviously, do the math!) /*The unit price is thus $5 -- which is not the same as what you have listed as the product price (that value is $1.)

Wholesale Inter Pack

If you allow wholesale Inter Pack, then, on the Edit/Add Product page, one of the settings will be the number of items per Inter Pack. Lets say the product is rubber bands. You sell one package for $1. Say you set the items per inter pack value to 100. Your customer will see that this product costs $1, and contains 100 rubber bands. /*The unit price is thus $1 -- the same as what you have listed for the product price.

eShop - Searching for a User

It may be necessary in some instances to search for a user who has registered with your shopping cart. Searching users allows you to view any address or phone numbers the user has entered, as well as the orders they have made. It is also possible to delete the user account or suspend it for a period of time, for more details on this click here (deleting a user) and here (suspending a user).

Log into your eShop and click on "Users & Orders" and then "Browse Users".

Search for a user using their name, email, phone number or company.

The list of available users will appear below. Click their name or username to view or edit the account details.

In some cases it may be necessary to suspend a user. To do so:

Log into your eShop and click on "Users & Orders" and then "Browse Users"

Search for a user using their name, email, phone number or company.

The list of users including your search terms will appear below. Click on the name of the user in question.

In the user properties, [ Click here to Lock Account for a 24 hours ]. Conversely if the account is already locked, the same area can be clicked to unlock an account.

eShop - How To: Tables in the eShop

The following guide will step you through all the functions of the table menu in the eShop Edit HTML Online editor.

Setting up a table

Clicking on this Table icon will launch the table window to allow you to select the options for the initial table.

We recommend modifying the following settings to insert the initial table:

Cols: sets the number of columns.

Rows: sets the number of rows:

Border: defines the width of the border on the website (a border of 0 displays nothing)

Width and height: allows you to define a fixed size of the table

Cell padding and cell spacing: prevents the text and images within each table cell from sitting right on the border. A cell padding or spacing of between 3 and 5 pixels is recommended.

Click on the Advanced Tab will give you further styling options.

Here the most relevant settings are:

Border colour: defines the colour of a border (you must have first set the width of the border on the "general" tab)

Background colour: defines the background colour of the table.

Click insert to put the table into the editor.

Modifying a table

1. Modifying an individual cell.

Once you have set up a table, you may wish to modify it, which can be done in numerous ways.

In the window that opens you can set the text alignment within the cell, by changing alignment and vertical alignment. You can also modify the height and width.

Clicking the Avanced tab will let you set a background and border specifically onto that cell.

Note that to update only that cell, it must be set in the dropdown in the bottom left to say Update Current Cell.

2. Deleting a column

To remove a column, click inside that column and then click the Remove Column icon.

3. Deleting a row

To remove a row, click inside that row and then click the Remove Row icon.

4. Inserting a column after the current column

To insert a column after the current column, click your cursor in the current column and then click the Insert Column After icon. The new column will appear to the right of the first column.

5. Inserting a column before the current column.

To insert a column before the current column, click your cursor in the current column and then click the Insert Column Before icon. The new column will appear to the left of the first column.

6. Inserting a row below the current row.

To insert a row below the current row, click the cursor in the current row and then click the Insert Row After icon.

7. Inserting a row above the current row.

To insert a row above the current row, click the cursor in the current row and then click Insert Row Before.

8. Merging cells

To merge two cells together, click your cursor inside the table and then click the merge cells icon.

Then, in the box that pops up, select whether you want to merge cells in the column, or cells in the row. You can also select the number of cells to merge together.

9. Splitting cells

To split cells you have already merged, click on the Split Cells icon.

eShop - Add a text page

Text pages are pages which are not linked to the Cart part of your website. You cannot display products or categories on these pages - they are useful for things such as delivery details, testimonials, contact information and so on. A link to a text page will display in either the top or bottom horizontal navigation bars, or both.

Go to Cart Settings and then click on Edit Text Pages

Click Add a New Page.

Fill in the Common Page Information. Note that the short name is what will help determine the URL of the page on your website, so it must have no spaces, and is recommended to only use lowercase letters. The Page Title will be the link that is visible on the horizontal navigation bar, and this can have spaces and capital letters.

Alter the Priority if required to change the order of the links on the navigation bar, fill in meta keywords, title and description if required.

Determine whether the link to the text page will appear on the top, bottom or both horizontal navigation bars.

Click Edit HTML Online to bring up the text editor to add the text to your page.

Use the visual editor to input and format the text of this page. If you need instructions on how to use the visual editor, click here.

Click Save Changes and check the page on your website.

eShop - Editing text pages

Once a text page has been created, its Title and its Contents can be modified or added to. The entire text page can also be deleted. To do so:

Go to Cart Settings and then click on Edit Text Pages

Select the name of the page you wish to edit. To delete a page, click the Blue Rubbish Bin to the right.

Change the Common Page Information if required.

Change the Link Locations to change which navigation bar the link will display if required.

Click Edit HTML Online to bring up the text editor to add the text to your page.

Use the visual editor to input and format the text on this page. If you need instructions on how to use the visual editor, click here

Click Save Changes and check the page on your website.

eShop: Can I import text from Microsoft Word?

There is no direct import tool from Microsoft Word into your website text editing area.

It is recommended that you do not use Microsoft Word to create and format the text you intend to put into your website. The main reason for this is because Microsoft Word uses a special kind of code to format and display text on the screen which is different from the code that websites use. When Microsoft Word code is added to website code, the two are not entirely compatible and lead to text displaying incorrectly on your website. Given the complexity of Microsoft Word code in comparison to standard web HTML, this also makes it very difficult to troubleshoot.

We thus strongly recommend that if you want to write a draft of the website text before you input it into the editor, you use what is called a "plain text" editor, such as Notepad in Windows or Wordpad on a Mac system. This will mean that the text you copy and paste in will be completely free of any hidden Microsoft Word code. We then recommend you use the website's visual editor to format and style your text accordingly.

eShop - WYSIWYG Editor Guide

The following guide will explain in detail all the available options in the Edit HTML Online editor in the eshop. This is the editor, as seen below.

The guide will list each icon individually with a brief explanation of its function.

Save: click this to save the work you have done.

Toggle Full Screen: this will allow you to edit your page in full screen. Click the toggle full screen button again to return to normal page display.

Bold: this will apply a bold effect to text. To do this, highlight your text and then click this icon.

Italic: this will apply an italic effect to text. To do this, highlight your text and then click this icon.

Underline: this will apply an underline effect to text. To do this, highlight your text, then click this icon.

Strike through: this will draw a strike through your text. To do this, highlight your text, then click this icon.

Superscript: this will superscript your text. To do this, highlight your text and then click this icon.

Subscript: this will subscript your text. To do this, highlight your text and then click this icon.

Left Justify: align your text to the left of the page

Centre Justify: align your text to the centre of the page

Right Justify: align your text to the right of the page

Full Justify: this will align your text to both the left and right of your page

Bullet list: this will create a list of bullet points. Create each bullet point by pressing enter after each line of text.

Numbered list: this will create a list of numbers. Create each new number by pressing enter after each line of text.

Outdent: shifts your text towards the left margin of the page.

Indent: indents your text towards the right margin of the page.

HTML Source: this icon launches the editor for editing the HTML source of the page directly.

Clean Up Messy Code: this icon is useful to clean up messy HTML code. This can be of assistance when, for example, copying and pasting text in from Microsoft Word. Often MS Word utilises its own code which can interfere with display in a browser. Try using this icon if, when pasting in from MS Word, the text does not appear as you expect.

Remove Formatting: highlight text and click this to remove all formatting on the text.

Cut: use this icon to cut some text or an image.

Copy: use this icon to copy some text or an image.

Paste: use this icon to paste some text or an image that you have previously cut or copied.

Find: use this to search and locate a word or phrase in your text copy.

Find and Replace: use this to search to locate a word or phrase in your text copy and then replace it with a new word or phrase.

Undo: use this to undo a change that you have made.

Redo: use this to redo a change you've previously undone.

Insert a link: highlight the text you wish to link and then click this icon to launch the link window. Paste the link URL in the appropriate field.

Remove a link: highlight the link you wish to remove and then click this icon.

Insert an anchor: use this icon to insert an anchor. This anchor can then be linked to by pressing the link button and selecting the appropriate anchor from the dropdown menu.

Image: use this icon to insert an image. For more details on images, please click here.

Embed media: use this icon to embed a Flash video file.

Emoticon: launches a window to allow you to select from a series of emoticons.

Insert a custom character: allows the insertion of a custom character such as the copyright or trademark symbol.

Insert Horizontal Rule: launches a window to define the height and width of a horizontal rule and then inserts it.

Select Text Colour: highlight your text and then use this icon to select its colour.

Select Text Background Colour: highlight your text then use this icon to select the highlighting colour for behind the text.

Insert table: inserts a table. For a more detailed table tutorial, click here

Select font family: highlight your text and then select the appropriate font family from the drop down.

Select font size: highlight your text and then select the appropriate size from the dropdown.

eShop - Setting up tax rates

It is possible to set up your cart to calculate tax rates, for example GST. It is recommended that if you sell products that are applicable for GST, you input your product prices WITHOUT GST and then allow the cart to add the GST calculation at the end. This is more accurate with regard to the checkout and invoicing processes.

To set up a tax rate do the following:

Go to Cart settings and then Edit taxes.

Fill in the Tax Rate Name and define the Countries and States to which it applies. We recommend leaving tax rate set to General. Type in the tax rate as a percent and select the classes of users to which it will apply.

Ensure that for all products that require GST (or another tax rate that you've set up) applied that their tax class is set to General.
Do a test purchase to ensure that GST (or another tax rate that you've set up) is added to the product correctly.

eShop - Can I put video on my website?

It is possible to embed videos from streaming sources such as YouTube or Vimeo to your website. You will first need to sign up an account to one of these services and upload your videos. You will then be able to get some HTML to embed on your website.

Upload your video to a service such as YouTube or Vimeo and retrieve the appropriate HTML code.
Log into your eShop Admin panel.
Select the text page on which you wish to add the video. If you require instructions on how to modify or add a text page click here.
Under Page HTML, do NOT click Edit HTML Online. In this case you will need to keep the HTML view open to allow you to paste in the map's HTML code.
Paste the code in the box. You may need to experiment with its position on the page if you are unfamiliar with HTML.
Save changes. View the text page to ensure the video is displaying correctly.

eShop - Can I put sound on my website?

eShop - Shipping Methods Explained

The eShop allows for multiple shipping methods to be created and enabled on the website at any given time. There are two types of shipping: Product Level and Global Shipping.

Product Level Shipping

When you create/edit a product, there is a field to enter Shipping for that product. Entering a price into this field will trump any Global Shipping rates that you may have already defined, or may later define.

An example for using this shipping type would be if you were selling a fridge, and there was a definite set price you needed, separate from the rest of the order that the customer was placing. The total shipping price would then be combined from the product price, and then the global shipping price for the rest of the order.

Global Shipping

Global shipping options can be set up by creating Custom Shipping Methods.

Custom Shipping methods allows you to set up multiple methods based on weight, base price + weight, price-based or a flat fee per item. The advantage of using this option is that, as a global setting, you can update it at any time, and it will apply globally to any order, rather than having to go through each product and updating its individual Product Level Shipping.

To set up custom methods, do the following:

Go to "cart settings" and then "shipping management."

Click on the Custom Methods tab and then click fill in the details below.

Here is where you'll need to have a good think about how you're going to ship your items, paying particular attention to the calculation method. Australia Post is a popular shipping option. While the cart does not integrate directly with the Australia Post shipping calculator, it is possible to manually create some shipping methods based on this.

Regarding prices for shipping, you will need to go to Australia Post, or whichever courier you will be using, and take a look at the prices they charge for different weights, etc. From this, you will then need to decide how much you would like to charge for shipping, and what method would suit your best. Below are some examples for each Shipping Method that can help shed some light on the matter, and lead you in the direction that you would like to have your shipping.

Shipping by weight

You ship products nationally and wish to create shipping methods based on Australia Post rates. The recommendation here is to create several different weight-based methods for different states. For example, say for products up to 500g shipping is $5, for over 500g but less than 1kg is $10 and so on. If this rate is for all states, then select all, if not select the specific state and set up 2 weight-based methods. Note that the cart calculates the shipping per kg so for the 500g shipping method at $5 you should input $10.

Note: you will need to ensure that the correct weight is applied to all your products at a product level for the weight-based shipping methods to effectively calculate.

Shipping by base + weight

This method is similar to shipping by weight except you can add a base price to the shipping cost. This method will also require the products to have weights added to them individually. So for example, you wish to use Australia Post rates similar to above with 0-500g at $5 and 501g-1kg at $10, but with an additional shipping base price of $2 for the first 500g and $4 after that, the method would appear as follows:

Shipping based on price

It is possible to set up shipping based on price, for example a sliding scale which rewards customers for spending more money by paying less shipping. In this example, spending up to $10 is $10 shipping, spending up to $20 is $7.50 for shipping, up to $100 is $5 shipping, and spending over $100 entitles the customer to free shipping.

Shipping with a flat rate

Flat rates operate on a per item basis. In this manner you can set up shipping which either increases or decreases shipping depending on how many items the customer purchases. In the below example, a flat shipping rate exists such that 0-10 items purchased are shipped at $5 per item but if the customer purchases over 10 items, shipping is free.

Once the shipping methods are set up, it is recommended to do a series of tests to ensure that shipping is calculated correctly by the cart.

Once you have figured out which shipping method you would prefer to use, as well as the price ranges that you will charge, you will be able to enter them into the Shipping Methods page. eShop - Shipping based on postcode

Though the cart only accepts shipping up to a state level, sometimes it beneficial to ship using smaller regions, such as differentiating between regional and metro in a state, or sending within a group of postcodes. It is possible to "trick" the cart into doing this by setting up some extra states within a country.

This tutorial assumes you are already comfortable with setting up custom shipping methods. If you require instructions on this, please click here

We will use an example for simplicity's sake, but this can be applied to numerous scenarios. In our example, a company wants to ship to two different zones within NSW - regional and metro, and will have different shipping rates applying to these two zones.

To set this up, you will first need to set up the additional states, and then apply shipping methods to them.

Click on cart settings and then global cart settings:

Click on country listing settings

Open up the country to which you want to add the extra states by clicking the circular icon on the right.

Add the extra regions or postcodes you require.

It is now time to apply shipping methods to the new states you've created.

Click on cart settings and then shipping management

Click on custom methods and add a new method

When adding a new method, specifically select the new state you created.

Click add method and fill out the appropriate shipping prices.

You may require more postcodes than just a regional and metro area zone. You can, theoretically, set up each individual postcode for every state if required, though this would be a very time consuming and tedious task. A work around would be to group postcodes. For example you could select from postcodes 2000-2100, then 2101-2200 and so on.

eShop - Shipping Management Settings

This guide will explain how to control the shipping methods of the cart. It will focus on controlling the settings on a cart-wide level. For a guide on how to set up custom shipping methods, for example to ship interstate or through Australia Post, click here.

Click on "cart settings" and then "shipping management."

Decide whether you want to allow the cart to calculate shipping (we recommend you allow it to).

The following diagram explains the shipping calculation settings:

Enable shipping: if this is selected then shipping will be calculated through the cart.
Display shipping prices: If Yes is selected, shipping prices will appear on the shipping methods page
Allow International Shipping: Determine where you want to ship to, whether nationally or internationally.
Allow orders to be completed if no shipping methods are available? If this setting is set to yes and shipping cannot be calculated, the order will be able to be completed without shipping calculated into the final cost.
Display the shipping weight on the product/catalog pages: If no is selected the cart will not display the shipping weight on the product pages.
Should the cart display the shipping price on the product page? Note - this will only display if you have entered a shipping price by product.
Enable the shipping quote feature? If enabled, customers will be able to get a shipping quote for products within their cart before they register.
Is shipping taxable? Yes or no.
Shipping tax class: A tax class can be assigned for shipping if required. For information on setting up a tax class, click here.

Decide on if you want to charge a handling fee. If so, fill in the following fields. If not, leave the handling fee at 0.00.

Set your shipping origin settings - set the location from which your products will be sent.

Save changes.

eShop - Can I set up free shipping?

It is possible to set up free shipping either on a global scale which will apply to all products, or on a product-by-product basis. In many cases it is desirable to offer free shipping after a certain amount of money has been spent, for example.

To set up free shipping using a custom method, follow the below steps.

Go to "cart settings" and then "shipping management."

2. Click on the Custom Methods tab and then click fill in the details below.

Shipping based on price

To apply free shipping to a particular product, follow the steps below:

Go to "categories and products" and click on "manage products."
Search for the product to which you want to apply free shipping.

Under product properties check "free shipping."

Once the shipping methods are set up, it is recommended to do a series of tests to ensure that shipping is calculated correctly by the cart.

eShop - Error Message: "Unfortunately we cannot deliver to international addresses."

In some cases the cart will generate an error when you try to purchase a product, stating "unfortunately we cannot delivery to international addresses." This error occurs in some instances even when you are trying to ship to your country of origin. This can be resolved by enabling international shipping. This should not be a cause for concern, as your cart will not allow shipping to international countries unless those countries have been selected from the country listing settings.

To enable international shipping:

Click on "cart settings" and then "shipping management."

Allow international shipping.

eShop - How to specify a delivery date

By adding a custom field to the cart's forms, it is possible to allow a customer to specify a delivery date.

Go to cart settings and click on forms control/custom fields.

Click on "create a new custom field."

Call the field "delivery date" and add it to additional information.

The customer can then specify when they want the product delivered.

eShop - Direct Deposit

An option for receiving payments through the cart is by allowing your customers to send payments via direct deposit. To set this up, please complete the following steps:

Click on "cart settings" and then "payment methods."

Click "Add a new custom payment method."

Under payment method properties, type Direct Deposit in the Payment Method Name field.

4. Fill in the payment form title and the message you would like to appear on the payment and thank you pages. It is recommended that you include your bank details on the thank you page.

eShop - Credit Card Storage

If you have a merchant facility which allows you to process credit card details, it is possible to have the cart securely store credit card details so you can process them manually through your merchant facility.

Note: Before setting up credit card storage you must purchase an SSL certificate in order to apply appropriate encryption to your shopping cart. Without an SSL, your customer'sâ„¢ credit card details are vulnerable and therefore we do not recommend proceeding with using the credit card storage feature without first purchasing an SSL. To purchase an SSL please contact sales@magicdust.com.au

To activate credit card storage:

Click on "cart settings" and then "global cart settings."

Click on "CCS Settings" on the left hand side.

Fill in your details to activate credit card storage.

Note: You must not lose the password that you set for credit card storage. This password is necessary to retrieve the credit card details after an order has been placed. It cannot be retrieved and we cannot reset it for you. If the password is lost then you will need to contact your customers to retrieve their credit card details over the phone.

Click save changes.
